Yesterday it was finally here, the start to the season of 2004/2005, the Nordic combined and ski jumping had fallen.
Nordic Combined
High in the north of Finland, Kuusamo in the morning it was already going on with the jumping of the combiner. The jump was won by the Japanese Daito Takahashi by jumping 143.0 and 137.0 meters. So he started before Ronny Ackerman (GER) who finished with jumps of 138.5 and 134.0 meters in second place. Third after the jumping Todd Lodwick was (134.0 m and 131.5 m).
Hannu Manninen (FIN) came in 14th with 3.19 minutes to the trails. On the 15 km, it took on gradually and convinced again with the best run time. This put him at the end in 2nd place behind Ronny Ackermann. Todd Lodwick (USA) secured the third Place.

Anssi Koivuranta, a promising young player of the Finns was the victim of the new "body mass" - rule. Since he was too light 700g, his jumping skis were too long and 2cm so he was disqualified.
ski jumping for the special Springer was a night jump. Winner after two rounds was the Finn Janne Ahonen jumps with 144.5 and 142.0 meters (318.7 points). Alexander army took a surprising second place with jumps of 138.5 and 126.5 meters (275.5 points). Third was Martin Höllwarth, 139.0 and 123.5 meters (274.0 points).
The other German jumpers landed on the following sites:
08th Michael Uhrmann - 125.0 m and 128.0 m (252.9 points)
11th Georg Spaeth - 124.0 m and 120.0 m (234.7 points)
13th Joerg Ritzerfeld - 123.5 m and 118.5 m (231.6 points)
Martin Schmitt, Stephan Hocke and Maximilian Mechler missed the final round.
Michael Neumayer had in qualifying particular pitch, he was removed from the rankings because the blade was too wide to his ski five millimeters.
