Pokemon Footed Pajamas

task for today: find a travel mate

I have this vague plan to spend the next week in Tassie, riding a bike or driving a rental car around the most beautiful spots there. While I don't have very specific ideas of the trip, I don't like to go alone, but would rather go with a fellow hacker or a small group.

I've been travelling through this lovely country around each of the last three LCAs, but Tasmania is one of the spots I have not yet seen. If you are here at the conference from overseas and also want to go travel Australia next week, or if you know someone who does, please get in touch with me.

How Much Does A Master Lock Cost

Linux.conf.au starts

Today is the second day of linux.conf.au , and I gave my presentation earlier this morning, which means that I'm now free to enjoy the rest of the conference.

We were reshuffling the talks this morning, and mine actually took place first, starting just after 9am, which meant that the room was still rather empty. Still, people seemed to enjoy it, and I had a number of laughs on my side. I've uploaded the paper and slides to http://userweb.kernel.org/~arnd/papers/lca2008/ , but it's Essentially the same content as the lce2007 one I did in Cambridge.

LCA always feels like a large family reunion, you have all the people you talk to regularly on the internet, some people you just see once a year and those that you've never met before, and there are many good friends as well as those that you do not like that much but that still belong here as much as everyone else.

Roch Carrier The Sweater Online

For now arrived

I am currently a guest for two nights at Jo and Mikey, we have the keys and all sorts of information exchanged, because tomorrow morning I fly to Melbourne go to the conference. The apartment is pretty huge for a single person, namely, almost as big as our whole flat at home.

Today we have celebrated at a party at Jess where we have the Australia Day and to the traditional triple-J hottest100 heard on the radio.

I guess I should really start slowly preparing my presentation, because that I have not done anything yet. It is probably out again that I must do it at the last minute, but this time it is at least a repeat of a lecture that I already had held last year in Cambridge.

Practical Horseman Of The Month

Flying with Asiana

Asiana Advertize the fact that they are the only airline with a five-star rating on Skytrax, and after my first flight with them, I'd agree that they deserve it. The food was the best I've had on an airplane ever. While I'm not familiar with Korean cuisine and had to read the manual they provided with their food in order to know what to do with it, it was fresh, light, tasty and enough food for me.

The entertainment system on their Boing 777-200 surprised me with a snappy user interface and a good selection of recent movies and TV shows, including a Snow Patrol concert. While I was still wondering what operating system they run, one of the games crashed, and I asked a flight attendent to reboot it for me. And no, I wasn't trying to crash it, but it reminded me of an entry in Harald Welte's blog, who had a similar experience.

Like him, I had my camera ready and got a chance to take pictures of the boot process, including this one:

The next flight leaves in a few hours, and I'm trying to stay awake right now in order to adapt to the Sydney time zone.

Neonate Dolls For Sale

It starts

Only a few hours, then I get on the train to Melbourne, via Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Seoul, Sydney and Canberra. The estimated travel time is six days, but the journey is the destination.

I'm looking forward to huge, and it can not wait that it will soon start. I will probably arrive Wednesday morning at Doro in Sydney and get used since two days only at times of the time difference and the weather. By car it will fly to Canberra to Mikey and Jo, with whom I will later exchange the property. Since we can then exchange keys and another to explain how everything at home work that way. On Sunday morning I fly to Melbourne for the best Linux conference, and there I stop then finally a week in one place.

So now I go to sleep at first, and tomorrow morning I see then, how do I get the rest of my stowed luggage.

Forms Needed To Rent Out A House

farewell party in Tübingen

Yesterday I celebrated with about 40 people a nice party for me in the WG, the reason for my temporary farewell to Australia. Since no recent party without motto is more, I've considered a motto, and that, appropriately, "the nations of the world" and all especially my foreign colleagues and friends invited.
there are more photos

Even my German friends have almost all set to the theme and dressed up as according to their desire to leave the country and something to eat from the land of welcome. So we ended up with a rich buffet with specialties from China, South Africa, Australia, Louisiana, Italy, France, Scotland, Japan, Austria, Greece and other countries.

Thank you to everyone who was there for the good wishes and the delicious food, that have brought her!

Does My Dog Have Nuclear Sclerosis Or Cataracts

Klinsmann at Bayern?

First reaction: O_______________O Wtf?
Second reaction: Juhu, Klinsmann is back! :)
Third reaction: Klinsi + Bayern bosses? Let's see how long it goes well.

So this constellation fits so once something not at all. * Cough * The stubborn (sympathetic, emotional, not (yet) live in California) and the even more stubborn Schwabe (unpleasant, persistent, red-to-be) Bayern bosses. Forecast how long the well? A first round, than to the middle of the second half. * Nick * The noise is really, hehe. Will be funny. * Get popcorn * Well, I will be no matter the main thing is they are taken away from ham nicht'n Veh. :)

remains now only open the question of Who will be the new assistant coach. Klinsmann is indeed 'n great motivator and has proven that he can form a team from one unit, but tactics and he has left he prefers another. (Maybe the since the World Cup and last?) And it remains to be seen whether he can handle all stars in Munich, and I trust him already. We'll see.

For young (ailing, bad playing, more-with-celebrity-fuss busy) players, however, it is THE chance one probably. times to get through something other than the appearance at any celebrity events in the headlines, to make a fresh start and finally back to power supply.
